Coronary Sinus : Definition, Location , Tributaries, Clinical Significance
largest vein of Heart : Coronary Sinus
Coronary Sinus opening into Right atrium between Inferior vana cava and Fossa ovalis and Right Atrioventricular Orifice
Location Of Coronary sinus :- Left Posterior Coronary Sulcus
End of Coronary Sinus :-
Posterior wall of Right atrium
Valve of Coronary sinus :- Thebesian Valve
- This is a Semicircular Valve of Right Atrium, at Orifice of Coronary Sinus. Thebesian Valve situated base of IVC (Inferior vana cava)
This deoxygenated blood deliver To right atrium --> superior Vena cava --> inferior Vena cava
There are Three Veins of heart :-
1. Coronary Sinus
2. Anterior Cardiac Veins
3. Venae cordis Minimi
Tributaries of Coronary sinus :-
1) Great Cardiac Veins
2) middle cardiac vein
3) small cardiac vein
4) Posterior vein of Left ventricle
5) Oblique vein of Left Atrium
6) Right Marginal of Left Atrium
All Vein which Listed above is Open in the Coronary sinus
Tributaries of Coronary Sinus :-
1. The great cardiac Vein :-
- This vein accompanies first the anterior interventricular artery and then left coronary artery to enter to left end of the coronary sinus
2. The middle cardiac vein :-
- This Vein accompanies posterior interventricrlar artery, and Join with middle part of the coronary sinus.
3. The small cardiac vein :-
- This vein accompanies right coronary artery in right posterior coronary sulcus and joins the right end of coronary sinus.
4. The posterior vein of left Atrium :-
- It runs on the diaphragmatic surface of left ventricle and join the ends in coronary sinus.
5. The oblique Vein of Left Atrium :-
- It is a small Vein running on posterior surface of left atrium. It terminates into left end of the coronary sinus. It develops from left common cardinal vein / duct of Cuvier which may sometimes form a large left superior vena cava.
6. The right marginal Vein :-
- This Vein accompanies the marginal branch of right coronary artery. It may either drain into small cardiac vein, or may open directly into right atrium.
Clinical Significance of Coronary Sinus :-
Electrod place into coronary Sinus because Study of electrophysiology of heart
FAQS :-
Q-1. What are the three major Veins that empty into the coronary Sinus ?

- 1. Coronary Sinus
- 2. Anterior Cardiac Veins
- 3. Venae cordis Minimi
